Acclaimed artist Shepard Fairey completes two murals of his art from the American Civics Series, which depicts social justice issues and is based on the iconic photography of Jim Marshall.
The murals, in Hayes Valley on a Linden Alley building and in the Mission at 701 Alabama Street, kick off the first public exhibit of the American Civics Series, which runs from August 12 through September 30 at the San Francisco Art Exchange (458 Geary St., San Francisco, CA 94102). The show features Fairey's five American Civics Series pieces—Voting Rights, Mass Incarceration, Workers’ Rights, Gun Culture, and Two Americas—as well as Marshall's photography that inspired the series.
The San Francisco Art Exchange is the only gallery authorized to sell the portfolios and individual prints. For hours and directions, click here.
